Ravindra Jadeja, the all-round star, is fit and ready to make his long-awaited return to Team India after a five-month absence. Known as one of the world’s best all-rounders, the 34-year-old has been selected for the first two tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia next month.
In preparation for the series, he has already taken up bowling. Jadeja last played for India on 31 August 2022, in a group match of the 2022 Asia Cup against Hong Kong, but has since been sidelined with a knee injury. Fortunately, he is now fully recovered and eager to get back on the pitch for India.
The Saurashtra cricketer took to Twitter on Thursday night to share a captivating video of himself bowling at the nets. He captioned the video: “Left arm around #priority.”

Jadeja’s return is a big boost for the Indian team, who are already without the services of Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah for the highly anticipated Test series at home against the world’s top-ranked Test team. With the series kicking off on February 9 in Nagpur, India needs to win at least three of the four Tests to reach the final of the World Test Championship. Jadeja, who last played a Test for India against England in Birmingham, scoring a century in the first innings, is expected to play a pivotal role.
According to reports, Jadeja is likely to play a Ranji Trophy match for his state team, Saurashtra, to showcase his fitness. He could play a role in Saurashtra’s match against Tamil Nadu before rejoining the Indian test team.
Jadeja was India’s most outstanding performer when Australia last visited for a test series in 2016-2017. He led the way with 25 wickets in four Tests, also contributing 127 runs at the bat. His impressive all-around performance earned him the Player of the Series award.
