January 16, 2023 update: The LG OLED Flex LX3 is now available in Singapore. We’ve added the dates, prices and specs at the bottom.
LG Electronics introduced the LG OLED Flex (model LX3) smart gaming TV at IFA 2022 today (September 2, 2022), showcasing what LG claimed to be the world’s first bendable 42-inch OLED display.
It’s a weird flex from LG, but the technical capabilities are still impressive. The LX3’s OLED display may be flat like an airport runway, while it is rising to 900R curvature with twenty intermediate stops (5% difference per stop).
It can also be tilted 10° towards or 5° away from the user, with a height adjustable stand that raises or lowers 140mm. Together, the LX3 offers comfort with its bendable screen.
As a 42-inch TV, it offers 100% color fidelity (CIE DE2000 certified), a 0.1ms response time with low input lag, and other eye comfort benefits such as glare-free certification and an anti-glare coating on its OLED panel.
Other benefits include support for Dolby Vision, video games with a resolution of 4K at 120 Hz refresh rate, HDM2.1 compatibility, on top of support for both AMD’s FreeSync and NVIDIA G-Sync frame rate resolution technology. That’s not to mention the dual 40W built-in speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
According to LG’s official statement, the LX3 will have 27 and 32-inch options in addition to the 42-inch variant. Whichever size you choose, it still has LG’s Gaming Dashboard menu to adjust the framing and positioning of your video game. There’s also a Game app that provides shortcuts to content streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube, and a dedicated Game Sound settings page with AI Game Sound and Dolby Atmos support settings.
Another advantage of the LX3 is Multiple views mode, which allows users to watch content from two different sources at the same time and select their favorite audio track from both streams. An example of the Multi View mode is watching YouTube videos in one panel and playing a PC or console video game in the other.
The LG OLED Flex series and the LG OLED Flex LX3 will be on display at IFA 2022, at LG’s booth (Hall 18) at Messe Berlin (Messedamm 22, 14055 Berlin, Germany). Our local LG representatives said that the LX3 would come to Singaporewith more details such as pricing and retail touch points to be released later.
