Lisa Marie Presley, the singer-songwriter and only child of Elvis Presley, passed away Thursday after being hospitalized earlier that day, her mother said in a statement.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the terrible news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla Presley said in a statement.
“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
The announcement came just hours after Priscilla Presley confirmed that Lisa Marie Presley had been rushed to hospital earlier on Thursday.
Paramedics in Los Angeles County were dispatched to a home in Calabasas just after 10:30 a.m. local time after a report of a woman in complete cardiac arrest, according to Craig Little, a spokesman for the county fire department.
Property records indicate that Presley lived at that address.
This is a breaking story with more to come.
