Bangladesh opener Litton Das has been banned from the current ODI series against Zimbabwe due to a hamstring injury.
Litton was injured in the first of a three-game series against Zimbabwe in Harare, which the home side won by five wickets.
Litton, who ended with 81 runs, had to retire injured after sustaining an injury while hitting a single, as Litton had been scoring runs regularly in recent years. His absence will have an impact on Bangladesh’s clout.
Concerns have also been raised about the availability of fast bowler Shoriful Islam, who was forced out of the game with a shin injury in the first ODI of the three-game series.
Bangladesh loses first ODI
Litton banned from Zimbabwe tour BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told cricket news website, Cricbuzz on Friday.
As for the match, the Bangla Tigers lost the match despite scoring over 300 runs. But their performance with the bat can’t be faulted much as all four of their best hitters scored 50 runs, a first in their ODI history.
However, none of them could stay in the fold as long as Raza and Kaia, who both scored hundreds for Zimbabwe. Bangladesh made numerous misfields and dropped catch after catch which was terrible. Since none of their seasoned bowlers could hold the tension for too long, their bowling performance was also subpar. The hosts gratefully accepted these gifts, giving them a 1-0 series advantage.
After the match, Tamil Iqbal said:I thought we didn’t have enough. We could have pushed a little more, we were 15-20 runs short. We knew we had to skip in the first 10-15 as a test match. We have regularly dropped catches and one day it will cost us, that was today. I think Litton is out of the series, I need to watch the others.’
