Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 67,123 cases of the coronavirus during its largest single-day peak since the start of the pandemic. The worst-affected state in the country has also recorded 419 deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the state today climbed to 37,70,707, of which 30,61,174 patients have recovered. 56,783 people have been released in the past 24 hours, the government statement said.
The state’s recovery rate is 81.18% and the death rate is 1.59%.
Maharashtra currently has a whopping 6,47,933 active cases, which put enormous strain on the state’s health infrastructure.
