The recently launched Mahindra XUV700 SUV set a series of new national records in the 24 hour speed endurance challenge. The challenge, which took place on the Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT) near Chennai, saw four XUV700s break the record, each of them covering over 4,000 kilometers in 24 hours, at an average speed of 170 at 180 km / h. The previous record was set in 2016 when the Tata Bolt had covered 3,161 km at an average speed of 131.7 km / h. The XUV700 is also the first SUV to achieve this endurance record.

As mentioned earlier, Mahindra rose to the challenge with four SUVs – XUV700 gasoline manual, XUV700 gasoline automatic, XUV700 diesel manual and XUV700 diesel automatic. The manual diesel version was the one that set the highest record with 4,384.73 km, followed by the automatic diesel, which traveled 4,256.12 km. The petrol manual and petrol automatic models reached 4,232.01 km and 4,155.65 km respectively.

Commenting on this new achievement, Velusamy R., Head of Global Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “The XUV700 has been conceptualized, developed and built to a very high endurance standard and as expected it has been designed and built to a very high endurance standard. is very well behaved in this grueling challenge. Mahindra says that in addition to achieving the national endurance record, the new Mahindra XUV700 also broke a total of 80 different records while rising to the challenge. The four XUV700s drove for 24 hours straight, at an average speed of 170-180 km / h, with quick stops just for refueling and changing drivers. Mahindra says this is the toughest test the XUV700 has been subjected to so far. The XUV700s were driven by enthusiasts of the automotive fraternity under the strict regulations and observation of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India. The records were validated by the India Book of Records.

The Mahindra XUV700 is available in gasoline and diesel engine options. The former gets a 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol engine developing 197 hp and 380 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional 6-speed automatic torque converter. Diesel variants receive a 2.2 liter mHawk oil burner which is offered in 3 tuning states. In the base MX variant, it is tuned to develop 153 hp and 360 Nm and receives a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. In the AX variants it offers 182 hp, and while the one with the 6-speed manual version develops a maximum torque of 420 Nm, the one with a 6-speed automatic torque converter delivers 450 Nm.
