A man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting this week at a Las Vegas Strip hotel room that killed one person and seriously injured two others.
Billy Deray Hemsley, 54, was held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in Thursday’s shooting in an eighth-floor hotel room at The Mirage, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a Twitter statement.
The shooting led to a lockdown of more than two hours at the iconic casino resort.
Police received reports of the shooting around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Capt. Dori Koren of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police during a press conference on Friday. Officers who arrived at the scene found three people who had been shot, Koren said. One man was dead and two women were taken to a hospital in critical condition, he said.
Authorities did not immediately identify the people who were shot and did not provide additional information about their injuries.

The shooting started as an argument with several family members in the hotel room, police said:. At one point during the altercation, police said Hemsley shot the three people and fled.
Officers found Hemsley Friday in a southeast Las Vegas neighborhood and he was admitted to the Clark County Detention Center ahead of a first court appearance scheduled for Saturday, police said.
Hemsley has a long criminal history, including convictions for crimes dating back to 1987, according to data reviewed by the The Bharat Express News.
Hemsley, who has also used the surname Moore and has variously spelled his name, was released by the Nevada Department of Corrections in September 2019 after being convicted in February 2013 of battery with a deadly weapon, the TBEN and the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
He was also charged with stabbing his girlfriend and stealing her vehicle in 2012, shooting a cousin in 2003 and choking a girlfriend during an argument in 2005, outlets reported.
It was not immediately clear whether Hemsley had an attorney available for comment.
