A Man City star frequently linked with a return to Spain has reportedly ‘agreed to personal terms’ during a January move to Barcelona.
Man city rediscovered their groove after a difficult start to catapult themselves into the mix of tracks.
A key part of their rebirth came from the impressive partnership formed in the middle of the center.
The unlikely duo of summer signing Ruben Dias and the once disgraced John Stones have combined superbly.
With Aymeric Laporte waiting backstage and Joao Cancelo operating at a high level at the back, what was once City’s weakness has become a strength.
A player who played no part in their defensive resurgence, however, is Eric Garcia.
The 20-year-old Spaniard has played competently on limited occasions since arriving in 2018.
Speculation about his desire to return to his home country began to swirl, with Barcelona emerge as the most likely contenders.
Now online publication Goal reveal that the potential transfer has approached.
Personal terms would have been agreed with Pep Guardiola comfortable with his current center-back options.
The change is not a formality, however, with the structure of the Barcelona club requiring a vote of all four presidential candidates before a move can be allowed.
A commission of only ‘5million’ is expected to be offered, far less than what Man City had initially hoped for.
But with Garcia on the cusp of becoming a free agent this summer, City may accept a lower offer than originally desired to avoid losing the player for free.
Goal quote a source within the Catalan club saying they expect Man City to play the ball hard on the move, but Barcelona are likely to ‘pursue their offer’ regardless.
Man City join £ 30million midfielder chase
Meanwhile, Manchester City have entered the race for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli, wanted by two of Italy’s biggest clubs.
Locatelli, 23, has established himself as one of Italy’s best Serie A midfielders in recent years.
A graduate of the AC Milan academy, he joined Sassuolo in 2018 and has grown steadily since.
His former club are well aware of his progress since then. As such, they would consider bringing him back to Milan. However, Serie A champions Juventus also love the midfielder.
Now, however, there is competition from the Premier League. According to Daily mail, Man City are considering a move for Locatelli.
