Mandy Moore welcomed her first child with her husband Taylor Goldsmith.

The This Is Us actress shared the news Tuesday on her Instagram account.

The Princess Diaries star added: “ We were ready to fall in love in all kinds of new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have imagined. The couple have been married since 2018.

Three weeks ago, she said the “ birth plan ” changed after finding out she had a low platelet count. She had to ‘unfortunately’ change the plans she had in place to give birth, after a routine check-up revealed that her platelet count had ‘dropped exponentially’.

She wrote on her Instagram story: “ Weekly platelet check at the hematologist. My platelets dropped exponentially during pregnancy and this unfortunately changed my birth “plan”. Are there other pregnant people in the same boat?

She did not reveal any other information about her platelet count, a very low count can sometimes signal a pregnancy problem, including a rare complication of preeclampsia – which is a condition that causes high blood pressure and can be serious if not treated – in late pregnancy.

In January, Moore said she was ‘very ready to have surgery’ in order to have a baby. It was not an easy journey for the couple to conceive their son.

After failing to get pregnant, Mandy went to a fertility doctor and was told she had suspected endometriosis – a medical condition that affects tissues in the uterus and can cause infertility.

But after receiving this diagnosis, the actress was ready to do whatever it took to be able to bear a child.

Speaking to Romper, she revealed: ‘I was totally ready to have the surgery and my uterus repaired and hopefully get rid of the endometriosis, if it was there. It was good to have a plan and to know, “OK, that’s why I haven’t been pregnant yet.” ‘

It was from her appointments with fertility specialists that Mandy ended up getting pregnant after learning she was ovulating on a date.

After being informed that she was ovulating but had only a small chance of conceiving due to her condition, Mandy took matters into her own hands and ‘voila’ she ended up with a test positive pregnancy.

Mandy previously admitted that she felt lucky to have been pregnant during the coronavirus pandemic because she suffered from morning sickness but was able to cope with the side effect of pregnancy because she was at home and not working.

In November, she shared: ‘I don’t know how women do it. I literally woke up and was sick all day. I couldn’t eat, I lost a lot of weight. I stayed in bed all day. But luckily I know that is not the case for everyone, that it can sometimes persist throughout pregnancy.

Moore revealed in September that she and Goldsmith are having a baby boy.

The Tangled star also shared several smiling photos on Instagram Story as she posed in a cute brown turtleneck knit dress.

She was fully made up and her brown hair fell around her shoulders.

The actress also posted some images of the nursery that is currently installed at her home.

She cropped the photos posted by interior designer Sarah Sherman Samuel and commented, ‘Can’t wait to see it all come together! ”

The candid star had informed his followers on social media that blood tests indicated that his platelet count had dropped “ exponentially ”.

As a result, it “altered” her original birth plan.

She did not explain how the diagnosis changed her expected delivery.
