Marriott Work From Anywhere plan guide – TBEN

Marriott has launched a trio of work-from-hotel packages designed as an alternative for guests looking for a change of scenery from their home offices. Day Pass, Stay Pass, and Play Pass packages offer guests the option of working at select domestic and international Marriott hotels for the day, night, or extended getaway.

Unfortunately, it does not appear Marriott Bonvoy Members can still redeem points to book these packages, but you will earn points just like normal bookings. Packages are currently available to book directly through Marriott’s new Work Anywhere webpage. Here’s a look at the three new packages.

Marriott Day Pass

The Day Pass offers the possibility of working from a nearby hotel with the following advantages:

  • 12-hour room reservation from check-in from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Free bottle of water.

  • Use of on-site commercial facilities, including printing and scanning equipment.

The cost of a reservation for a day pass varies depending on location and hotel. For example, it’s $ 55 plus tax and fees for a day pass for a standard room at the Courtyard Phoenix North, and $ 109 at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square.

The Day Pass is currently available at select hotels in Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Phoenix, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, London, Toronto and Singapore.

Marriott Stay Pass

With a Stay Pass reservation, you can book one night and get up to 36 hours at the hotel on a one night reservation with the benefits of early check-in and late check-out. It is possible to book multiple nights to extend the benefits of your Stay Pass, subject to availability at the hotel.

Here is an overview of the features of the Stay Pass:

  • Early check-in at 6:00 a.m. and late check-out at 6:00 p.m.

  • $ 10 food and drink voucher.

  • Free bottle of water.

  • Use of on-site commercial facilities, including printing and scanning equipment.

  • Unlimited access to public areas, hotel equipment and fitness facilities.

Before booking a Stay Pass reservation, it is worth comparing the cost to the normal room rate. For example, a sample booking for an overnight stay at SLS Hotel Beverly Hills costs $ 394 plus taxes and fees. However, the Marriott Bonvoy member’s rate for the same night is $ 341, which means you’ll pay over $ 50 for the extra benefits of the Stay Pass. If you don’t get all the benefits of the Stay Pass, it may be cheaper to just book a regular reservation.

According to Marriott, Stay Pass is available at more than 2,000 hotels around the world.

Marriott Play Pass

For a long hotel getaway from work, Marriott created the Play Pass, designed for traveling families. The advantages include:

  • Business concierge for all work-related needs.

  • Supervised children’s activities.

  • Possibility of reserving semi-private workspaces.

  • Full use of on-site business facilities such as printing and scanning equipment.

  • Access to public areas, hotel equipment and fitness facilities.

Participating hotels may also offer unique benefits to customers traveling with a Play Pass reservation. For example, the Ritz Carlton Cancun advertises the following benefits:

  • Free daily breakfast for two.

  • A 20% coupon on food and drinks.

As with the Stay Pass, it is worth comparing the cost of a Play Pass reservation to a standard reservation. Additionally, many hotels eligible for Play Pass reservations are resort-style hotels, so you may be able to find a better package depending on the location.

Play Pass is currently available in many hot spots including Arizona, Cancun, California, Florida, Hawaii, and several other international destinations.

The bottom line

If you’re tired of working remotely from home, Marriott’s three new hotel work packages can provide a welcome change of scenery. However, it’s worth comparing the cost of a Day Pass, Stay Pass, or Play Pass to a regular room rate. If you don’t take full advantage of the additional perks, you may be able to save on your booking.
