Avengers, gather Down Under! Marvel films to be set in Australia for ‘next FIVE years’ … as influx of movie stars cement Sydney’s status as ‘Hollywood 2.0’

Australia is apparently poised to become the hub for filming of Marvel franchise blockbusters in the “ foreseeable future. ”

According to The Daily Telegraph, Disney – which bought Marvel for $ 4 billion in 2009 – is relinquishing its headquarters in Atlanta, U.S., in favor of Sydney for the “ next five years, ” after the coronavirus pandemic closed its production facilities.

“There is nowhere in the world where movies can be shot the way they can be here in Australia,” a studio source revealed.

“ Sydney is the place to be for Marvel blockbusters, as most of them are basically shot in front of a green screen. The whole studio is being transformed mainly from the United States.

Marvel director Kevin Feige is rumored to be set to make a permanent move underneath and film the next batch of Marvel movies at Fox Studios in Moore Park.

This will include Guardians of the Galaxy 3, starring Chris Pratt, Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2 directed by Brie Larson, and a Doctor Strange sequel starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Thor: Love and Thunder, starring Chris Hemsworth, a Byron Bay resident, is already in the middle of filming after it premieres on January 26.
