Matt Riddle did an interview with Vicente Beltrán of ViBe & Wrestling on a wide range of topics.
Meanwhile, the WWE star has joined a long list of people in the pro wrestling field to give his take on The Undertaker’s controversial comments.
The future WWE Hall of Famer made it known during an appearance on Joe Rogan Experience about how he thinks wrestlers today are “ gentle ” compared to previous generations.
“I would say to the Undertaker and everyone, times have changed, the human race and everyone is changing and yes we don’t carry knives and weapons to work because we have metal detectors to keep us safe so people don’t. ; we have a wellness policy where we are all tested regularly so that we are safe and in our right frame of mind. I love my job, I show up for work and … I’m a professional UFC veteran who broke people’s jaws on a steel cage something that wasn’t there when he was young and I bet if that was he still wasn’t Step up because it takes a different breath then that’s it and he shouldn’t be saying some things about the upcoming roster because we’re real wild, not pretentious, so he should be careful.
But I still respect him, I just think sell us a little too much and I don’t think he wanted to be mean, I just think he thought his time was harder and I would say this, when he was working, times weren’t harder, they weren’t smart either and they were dumb, they abused certain things, they abused their bodies and they all pay the price. Wrestlers today were smarter, who work smarter and if they think it took more bumps we don’t work the same schedule you worked and you can’t tell we’re softer because they were smarter and more educated like the modern athlete. and we are not too injured, we train smart, we eat healthier and we do better because people in the past made so many mistakes we learned and now we don’t make those same mistakes anymore.
So Undertaker says we’re soft, I don’t think we’re soft, I think we’re smarter so that we don’t hurt ourselves and get into stupid situations like bringing guns to work, so Undertaker, just respect but at the end of the day respect and understand the evolution without regret if it comes with the man of that comes with educated in the locker room and realize that we have evolved, we are better educated and we no longer make certain things, we are doing it right.
Riddle also spoke about his transition from UFC to wrestling, the differences between NXT, SmackDown, and Raw, and more. Check out the full interview here:
