The soon to be launched Mercedes-AMG A 35 sedan will be the second AMG model to be made in India after the GLC43 coupe.

It was last year in October when Mercedes-Benz announced it would start local assembly of AMG models in India, starting with the GLC 43 Coupe. Now the German automaker is set to launch its second India-made AMG model in the country. The new Class A limousine is expected to go on sale in India next month, which will be available in three variants – A 200, A 200d and A 35 AMG. The top-of-the-range Mercedes-AMG A 35 sedan will be the next locally assembled AMG model after the GLC 43 Coupé. Local assembly of the AMG A 35 sedan will help the company to keep prices very aggressive. For starters, AMG is the performance sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz that offers a broad portfolio of performance limousines, performance SUVs, SUV coupes and sports cars.

Like the AMG GLC 43, the soon-to-be launched AMG A 35 sedan will be manufactured at the Chakan plant in Pune. At present, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is the only India-made AMG model from the Stuttgart-based automaker. The automaker gave us the first glimpse of the luxury sedan at the 2020 auto show. The car was expected to hit the Indian market by the second half of 2020, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic . Nevertheless, the new Mercedes-AMG A35 sedan will be launched in India on March 21, 2021.
Aesthetically, the Mercedes-AMG A 35 sedan will borrow its design cues from the hatch, with a bold grille with the massive logo on the front as well as soaring LED headlights. The elongated trunk of the luxury sedan adorns a coupe-like roofline, adding significant appeal to the car. At the rear, it receives wraparound LED taillights offering a distinctive look. In addition, there is a dual exhaust and lip spoiler integrated into the trunk.
Inside, the sedan’s cabin should be heavily inspired by the A 35 AMG sedan. It will also sport an AMG flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, an extended digital cockpit with split-screen configuration for the infotainment system with MBUX system. The A 35 AMG sedan will come with five drive modes, which changes the color scheme depending on the model selected.

The Mercedes-AMG A 35 sedan will be powered by a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline mill. It will be tuned to produce 302bhp of maximum power against a maximum torque of 400Nm, while being mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, the petrol A 200 will get a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine which will be good for 161 hp and 250 Nm while the diesel iteration will use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder oil burner set to make 147 hp and 320 Nm. Transmission options will include a 7-speed DCT for gasoline and an 8-speed DCT for diesel. The performance sedan can time the triple-digit mark in 4.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 225 km / h.
