Modelo X RSVP Gallery capsule collection celebrates Chicago in style


The sport may be a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean team loyalty has to suffer. RSVP Gallery, known for being a “conceptual retail experience” in Chicago, IL, has taken extra steps to keep fans happy. RSVP Gallery, which offers everything from hoodies and skateboards to hand sanitizer, has partnered with Modelo Beer to honor Chicago’s sports history in the best way they can do: personalized equipment.

Originally from Illinois, and founders of RSVP, Don C and Virgil Abloh, have always been motivated by “the intersection of art, music and fashion in Chicago since its inception in 2009.” Abloh who is among many others involved with Louis Vuitton as artistic director of men’s fashion. While Don C’s focus on influential streetwear and many years of artistic management for Kanye West, led to the creation of his own brand, Just Don.

Known as the Capsule Collection, the limited-time release launched on November 19 via a virtual panel discussion at the RSVP Gallery in Chicago. The clip features some of Chicago’s biggest names in sport, including Ryan Arcidiacono of the Chicago Bulls, Eloy Jiménez of the Chicago White Sox, Alex Brown of the Chicago Bears and Connor Murphy of the Chicago Blackhawks. Each of the four pieces in the capsule collection was inspired by one of four teams representing Chicago’s nod to iconic all-American sports.

For Modelo, the partnership was simple. “As the number one beer in Chicago, Modelo has long been synonymous with tenacity and courage, which matches fans’ passion for their local teams.”

In 2018, Modelo Especial topped 100 million cases sold in the United States, propelling the brand up the charts to become the # 1 imported beer. Away from the small town of Tacuba, Mexico, where Modelo was born in 1925. , the tenacity of Chicago sports is something Modelo feels a kinship to.

Chicago is known for hosting some of the most revered sports teams in history. The goal of the RSVP Gallery and Modelo to celebrate the Chicago teams is ultimately a way to honor Chicago’s still-loyal sports fans.

“The idea behind this collection was to merge the functionality of sportswear with streetwear high for Chicago,” said Dawn Apang, Managing Director of RSVP Gallery. “This experience gives Chicago fans the opportunity to admire their hometown favorites with a limited edition capsule collection.”
