Neeraj Chopra congratulated Murali Shreeshankar and Sudhir on their respective wins
India won two more medals on Day 7 of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, courtesy of Murali Shreeshankar and Sudhir. While Shreeshankar took a silver medal in the men’s long jump on Thursday, para powerlifter Sudhir took gold in the men’s para powerlifting final.
Both Sudhir and Shreeshankar wrote their names in the history books en route to their respective triumphs, and the pair also received congratulations from Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra.
Neeraj had been ruled by Commonwealth Games 2022 just two days before the start of the multi-sport event and took to Twitter to congratulate his compatriots on their historic achievements.

The 24-year-old ace Javelin Thrower wrote a heartfelt tweet for Murali Shreeshankar after the latter took a silver medal in the men’s long jump final on Aug. 4. Neeraj wrote that he was happy to see Shreeshankar’s achievement and that the latter has begun, and there is much more to come.
“Congratulations on winning a brilliant medal Sreeshankar Bhai! So good to see you believe in yourself till the end. Enjoy your win and I’m sure this is just the beginning and there’s much more to come” Neeraj tweeted.
Shreeshankar saved his best for the last time and in his fifth attempt, he jumped 8.08 meters to jump from seventh to second. Previously, Shreeshankar had finished seventh in the World Championships in Athletics in his long jump final, while Neeraj took silver in Oregon, but ended up sustaining an injury during the event.

Later in the day, para powerlifter Sudhir won another gold medal for India with a stunning 212kg lift, and Neeraj congratulated the former on his historic achievement.
“Bahot badhiya Sudhir bhai! Congratulations on the gold medal and the new game record,” the Olympic gold medalist wrote in Tokyo while re-shared an image tweeted by SAI Media.
India’s total at the 2022 Commonwealth Games stands at 20 medals with 6 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals.
