Nighttime curfew in urban areas of 8 J&K districts amid rising Covid cases

The nighttime curfew will go into effect from Friday, the lieutenant governor’s office said.

Srinagar:

Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has ordered the imposition of a nighttime curfew in urban areas of eight districts, including Jammu and Srinagar, to stem the spread of the surge in coronavirus cases.

The nighttime curfew will go into effect from Friday, the lieutenant governor’s office said.

“Asked the divisional administration to impose a 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. corona curfew in urban areas of 8 districts affected by the recent COVID surge,” he tweeted.

These districts are Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua, Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Anantnag and Kupwara, he said.

The curfew will be in effect within the municipal limits of the urban local authorities of these districts. Reasi district will be under close surveillance for possible spikes in cases, he added.
