The Noida-Greater Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has adjusted the minimum balance required on the metro card to access the station. The decision was made in view of the overcrowding in the metro stations.

NMRC oversees the planning, management and construction of the Noida and Greater Noida metro network which is growing by leaps and bounds. The company plans to increase the reach of the Noida Metro and Greater Noida Metro by building new lines between Noida and Greater Noida and between Sector 142 and Botanical Garden.

As of now, more than 45,000 people travel daily on NMRC via the subways. Due to the massive numbers of visitors, crowd management in the stations has become a hassle for security authorities. To solve this problem, they have increased the value of the minimum balance required to access train stations.

As of now, Rs 10 balance was required on the metro card to access any station in Noida and Greater Noida. However, if a person wants to travel past two stations, she must recharge the card to exit the station. This causes overcrowding.
