The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a new location for motor vehicle owners who seek inspection services but cannot access the Nairobi and Thika inspection centers due to travel restrictions.
On Thursday, April 8, security authorities said motorists who were excluded from the single zone zone (Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Kiambu and Nakuru) could now access service in Murang’a County.
“The Authority will organize a weekly inspection (every Friday) of motor vehicles at the construction site of the Mechanical and Transport Division of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, along the Murang’a-Sagana road, next to the Huhi fuel station, ”NTSA said.
Motorists were asked to access the service by making a reservation through the Integrated Transportation Management System (TIMS) account and selecting any available date in the system.

NTSA asked those who book to select the Thika Inspection Center as the location on the portal.
Anyone who has been successfully booked for an inspection can access the service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
At the same time, smart driver licensing services will continue to be offered at Murang’a Huduma centers every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“As we strive to offer the services, we urge our customers to adhere to the measures put in place to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
“For more information, contact us via [email protected], the free NTSA app or our WhatsApp number 0797556354 (no calls),” advised the communications unit.
The reservation fee for an annual vehicle inspection is Ksh 1,750.
The reservation for an engine inspection is valid for 14 days and if it expires before you present your vehicle for inspection, you will be required to rebook.
In the yard, inspectors check vehicle and driver information, car exterior and interior, engine condition, chassis, tires, batteries, brakes, steering and suspension , safety lights, windshield, windshield wipers, fluid levels, belts, hoses and exhaust pipe.
