Oprah Winfrey hopes the death of Queen Sussexen will give the royal family a chance to make peace

Oprah Winfrey says she hopes the Queen’s death will allow the royal family to come together and provide “an opportunity to make peace”.

The host of the American talk show sat down with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2021 for a widely publicized and explosive interview.

Winfrey made the comments while attending the 2022 Toronto Film Festival, where she was asked about Harry and Meghan’s recent reunion with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

“My father recently passed away, this summer,” she told the American outlet Extra.

“When all the families come together for a common ceremony, the ritual of, you know, burying your dead, there’s a chance to make peace.

“And hopefully there will be.”

The presenter faced criticism for the comments on social media, with her questioning why she had chosen to bring up past tensions.
