In last year’s Asia Cup final, the 28-year-old led Pakistan to a shock defeat to Sri Lanka, which was followed by a defeat to England in the T20 World Cup.

Misbah-ul-Haq, a former head coach and player, has also lent support to Babar as of late and believes the captain comes across as weak to his detractors in the media. Misbah asked the Pakistan team to stick together, keep Babar as captain and make a choice in a relaxed manner.
