Pakistan Cricket Board refutes Shahid Afridi’s claim that Shaheen Afridi would bear the cost of his London treatment

In a statement released Thursday, the Pakistan Cricket Board rejected former all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s claim that Shaheen Afridi’s knee rehabilitation is not supported by the PCB.

According to PCB’s statement, the board has always been responsible for setting up medical care and rehabilitation for all its players who need it. This responsibility will not change.

The PCB has done nothing for Shaheen Afridi: Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi, in particular, had criticized PCB, claiming that the organization did not pay for the recovery of the star pacer.

“Shaheen Afridi went to England on his own. He even paid for his own ticket. He is staying in England at his own expense. I got him a doctor, and when he landed there, he contacted the doctor.

“The PCB has done nothing. From the coordination to his housing, he does everything alone. Zakir Khan (PCB International Cricket Director) only spoke to him once or twice,” Afridi said in a discussion on Samaa TV.

The Pakistani administration has also provided an update on the injuries of Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Afridi. In the final against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan eventually lost, Zaman suffered a knee injury.

Fakhar Zaman leaves for London to rehabilitate

According to PCB’s announcement, Zaman will go to London on September 1 to begin his rehabilitation.

“Fakhar Zaman leaves for London on Friday to rehabilitate. Fakhar had landed awkwardly on his right knee while fielding at the ACC T20 Asia Cup final in Dubai.

According to the protocols, the PCB has scheduled its medical appointments with specialists who will provide the best medical care for his rehabilitation,” PCB’s statement read.

During his stay in London, the PCB will make all relevant logistical arrangements for Fakhar and he will remain under the supervision of the PCB Advisory Panel, which also includes Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad and Dr. Zafar Iqbal, who also deal with Shaheen Shah Afridi.

“It goes without saying that the PCB has always been and will continue to be responsible for arranging medical care and rehabilitation for all its players in need of any treatment.
