AGCS Strengthens North American Distribution Team with Strategic New Hiring and Reorganization
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed John Gambale as regional head of distribution NA, large corporate, effective October 3. He will be based in New York and reporting to Bill Scaldaferri, CEO and President, AGCS North America.
Rani Christie, formerly regional head of distribution, sales and marketing for NA, will lead the mid-market division, also reporting to Atlanta-based Scaldaferri.
Gambale joins AGCS from AIG, where he has held a variety of leadership roles over the past 23 years. Most recently, as president, Northeast Zone, he was responsible for executing go-to-market strategies in the New York Metro, Mid-Atlantic and New England markets overseeing more than 200 insurers in all major real estate, casualty -, financial lines and special product areas. Prior to his zonal distribution responsibilities, he held various local and national leadership roles at AIG Financial Lines. Gambale started his career in corporate insurance at Swiss Re.
AGCS North America contributes approximately half of the total AGCS global premium of 9.6 billion USD (2021). The company is focused on traditional P&C and Specialty lines, including Aviation, Corporate Property, Entertainment, Energy & Construction, Financial Lines, Marine and select Liability lines. It also offers Alternative Risk Transfer services for the large corporate segment and a dedicated MidCorp capability.
AXA XL with 2 agreements to expand group captives in America
AXA XL’s Primary Casualty business has appointed Mark Benz and Joseph Davina to lead the newly established group captives unit. Benz and Davina, based in New York, report to Chris Kopser, president and chief victim of the CUO, America.
As the head of Group Captives Primary Casualty Americas – Group Captives, Benz’s primary responsibility is to lead the group’s captive portfolio, including overseeing the underwriting, operations, distribution and overall unit performance.
Taking on the role of underwriting manager, primary casualty Americas – Group Captives, Davina will be tasked with managing the day-to-day underwriting of the team and will focus on maximizing underwriting and operational expertise within both casualty and the group captive business. .
Benz joins AXA XL from AIG, where he most recently worked as head of captive solutions. Davina has led the captive and multinational insurance teams and has served as lead underwriter for energy and casualty insurance at AIG.
