Verisk Appoints Elizabeth Mann as Chief Financial Officer

Elizabeth Mann has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Verisk effective September 15, 2022.

As CFO, Mann will lead Verisk’s global finance organization, including accounting and controllership, financial planning and analysis, investor relations, strategic purchasing and procurement, tax and treasury. She takes over the role that became vacant when Lee Shavel was named CEO in May. David Grover, Verisk’s controller and chief accounting officer, was interim CFO.

Shavel said: “We are delighted to welcome Elizabeth to Verisk. Elizabeth’s global and diverse finance experience combined with her leadership make her the perfect candidate to lead Verisk’s dynamic finance team. Elizabeth will be a great partner in achieving our longer-term growth and return goals and an invaluable resource for valued stakeholders seeking to better understand Verisk’s financial and competitive strength.”

Mann joins Verisk from S&P Global, where she served as CFO for the Ratings and Mobility divisions. Before that, she was Senior Vice President of Capital Management. She also held positions of increasing responsibility at Goldman Sachs, including director of the company-wide strategy group and the investment banking technology, media and telecom group.

Acrisure Re hires carpenter furlong

Acrisure Re, the reinsurance division of global insurance brokerage and fintech platform Acrisure, has announced the appointment of Chuck Furlong as senior vice president and broker, effective immediately.

In his new role, Furlong will focus on expanding Acrisure Re’s reinsurance capabilities across its North American property and casualty classes. He will also work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all of his reinsurance clients provide high-quality solutions and service.

Furlong has over 25 years of industry experience and has held various management positions. He joins Guy Carpenter’s Acrisure Re, where he most recently served as the head of the US casualty reinsurance option. Prior to that, he was executive vice president at JLT Re for 13 years until the company was acquired by Guy Carpenter in 2018. Furlong also spent five years as executive vice president at Willis Re, working primarily with complex accident and professional liability treaties. .

“The reinsurance market is becoming increasingly complex, requiring brokers to have much more knowledge and experience in providing solutions and service to their clients,” said Simon Hedley, CEO. “Chuck has a proven track record of providing solutions, backed by extensive expertise in the real estate and casualty industries, growing revenues and meeting production targets in the process.”

NFP Adds Energy Industry Veteran Seth Michaelson

P&C broker NFP, said Seth Michaelson was hired to handle the energy practice within NFP’s specialized business. Michaelson holds the title of Vice President, Energy and Marine, and supports the continued growth of NFP’s specialty practice. He reports to Vilma Vanegas, senior vice president, practice leader, Energy.

“I am delighted to welcome Seth to NFP as we continue to build a team of talented and experienced professionals,” said Vanegas. “Seth’s background in working with corporate and medium-sized clients, providing M&A insight, evaluating complicated insurance placements, and navigating complex property and business interruption claims makes him a valued resource for our industrial clients.”

Michaelson has over 13 years of experience and most recently served as a general manager at Catto & Catto, a division of HUB International of Texas, Inc. Prior to that, he held various brokerage, risk management and business development roles at various organizations, including Wortham Insurance and WTW. While energy and marine will be his main focus, Michaelson will also work with NFP’s real estate and construction specialty practices to leverage the deep relationships he has built in those sectors.
