Donald Trump’s impeachment on Wednesday confirmed that “no one is above the law,” US House of Commons Speaker Nancy Pelosi said after the provocative Republican president was impeached for the second time in 13 month.
“Today, in a bipartisan fashion, the House has demonstrated that no one is above the law, not even the President of the United States,” the top Democrat in Congress said in a ceremony during which she signed the article of impeachment.
Trump, 74, was indicted on charges of “inciting insurgency” after urging his supporters to march on the U.S. Capitol and “fight,” which led to a mob storming the headquarters of American democracy.
