Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with startups on Saturday and address a global summit hosted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Prarambh: Startup India International Summit is organized by the Department of Industry and Domestic Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Trade and Industry from January 15-16.
Prime Minister Modi will interact with startups and address the summit on Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. via video conference, the PMO said in a statement.
The two-day summit is organized as a follow-up to the announcement made by the Prime Minister at the fourth BIMSTEC summit held in Kathmandu in August 2018 during which India pledged to host the BIMSTEC Startup Conclave.
The summit marks the fifth anniversary of the Startup India initiative, launched by the Prime Minister on January 16, 2016.
With the participation of more than 25 countries and more than 200 speakers from around the world, the summit will be the largest confluence of startups hosted by the Indian government since the launch of the Startup India initiative, the PMO said.
He will attend 24 sessions focused on strengthening multilateral cooperation and engagement with countries around the world to collectively develop and strengthen startup ecosystems, he said.
