When Hong Kong math teacher Jessica was released from prison last year after her arrest during the area’s massive pro-democracy protests, she decided it was time to leave her hometown and go abroad.

The 28-year-old is one of thousands of Hong Kongers who recently moved to Britain to build a new life after Beijing’s crackdown on dissent in the former British colony, returning to China in 1997 dominion.
