Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of All Progressives Congress (APC) State President Philip Shekwo.
The incident happened on Saturday.
Police commissioner Bola Longe spoke to reporters in Lafia, the state capital, on Sunday.
He revealed that the politician was seized from his residence in Bukan-Sidi, Lafia around 11 p.m.
Longe said agents had been deployed to search various forests and flashpoints to ensure the rescue of the APC leader.
The party remains divided in the state.
Factions led by former governor Abdulaziz Yari and former senator Kabir Marafa are fighting for control.
