A suspected thief was shot dead on the roof of a bar on Sunday, November 22, following a failed robbery attempt.
The incident occurred in the morning in Oyugis Town, Homa Bay County, with the suspect allegedly part of a gang of five who planned to raid a local bar.
The suspected thief was gunned down after failing to report to police while trapped on the roof after four of his accomplices managed to escape.

Rachuonyo South Sub-County Police Commander Lilies Wachira confirmed the incident, adding that the suspected thief threatened police officers.
“He was found removing an iron sheet from the roof of the bar with the intention of stealing. Instead of going to the officers at the scene, he threatened to hack the police,” Wachira said .
The gang reportedly attempted to access the bar from the rooftop before the police rushed over it.
The deceased body has since been transferred to the morgue at Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital.
Police launched a manhunt in the town of Oyugis in an attempt to locate the four suspects who managed to escape.
The city reported an increase in incidences of insecurity, with residents calling on police to step up security.
