WWE left no clue as to what might be next for Drew McIntyre after his match with Roman Reigns tonight at the Survivor series pay-per-view but, as Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has made sure to protect Bobby Lashley in recent months.
In a conversation with Bryan Alvarez about the secondary belts not being treated as a big deal, Meltzer noted that this was not the case for the United States title because Lashley was holding that belt. .
Meltzer said: “Bobby Lashley is one of the most protected guys out there and Sami Zayn is a guy they use as the pesky little guy who is a good talker who annoys everyone.”
Lashley vs Zayn is scheduled for tonight’s pay-per-view and there appears to be very little doubt about the outcome of the game.
Meltzer said: “They’re going to protect Bobby Lashley but I don’t think it’s because of the belt. This is because Bobby Lashley has a great look and they are protecting him. They are protecting him but I don’t know why. Maybe they’ll get back to him and Drew? It’s okay if they do because they’ve protected him for so long, they might as well do something like that with him. He’s the bully of The Hurt Business and everything in between.
Again, this is speculation, but based on how Lashley has been pushed on Raw in recent months, it makes sense that Lashley will be the next to fight for the WWE Championship.
