Pundit believes invisible Liverpool man may create ‘good surprise’ for Klopp


Specialist Frank Leboeuf believes central defender Ben Davies could bring a “good surprise” to Liverpool on his debut.

Liverpool have suffered a catastrophic defensive injury crisis this season, losing all three senior defenders to long-term injuries.

However, their problems go even deeper than that. Fabinho backgrounds and Jordan henderson became the main replacement, but both have now suffered injuries.

It’s still unclear when Fabinho will return, but Henderson will still be out for quite a while. As such, Lebouef called on manager Klopp to use January rookie Davies.

The 25-year-old suffered a stroke of his own, but has since recovered.

The expert said ESPN: “He had Davies in the winter. But now he [Henderson] is hurt.

“Davies was signed on for this. He must be judged. He’s a central defender and we could have a good surprise.

The former Preston Davies man is one of four center-backs Klopp still has at his disposal. However, they all lack senior experience.

Nathaniel Phillips didn’t make his Premier League debut until October, but has now become the most experienced player at the back.

Ozan Kabak, meanwhile, had a mixed start to life as a Liverpool player. He had a shaky start at Leicester, before putting in a strong performance against RB Leipzig.

As for the injured Liverpool cohort, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez remain out for the season. However, there is little hope that Virgil van Dijk can return before the end of the season.

However, Klopp stressed that he did not expect the Netherlands captain to return before the next term.

Report claims Klopp is impressed with White

Meanwhile, reports claim Klopp has grown even more impressed with Brighton defender Ben White.

Amid his side’s injury crisis, Liverpool could step up to a top center-back this summer.

Speculation has claimed White has been on the Reds’ radar for some time and his performance at Anfield has reportedly thrilled Klopp recently.
