After Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan and other Bollywood celebrities supported the actor Ranveer Singh who sparked controversy after posing nude for a magazine cover and sharing photos on social media, actor Janhvi Kapoor came to support the actor. Speaking to the media at the launch of Reliance Digital in Delhi on Friday, Janhvi said: “I think it’s artistic freedom and I don’t think anyone should be analyzed for artistic freedom.”
For the inexperienced, an FIR was registered against Singh on a complaint filed with Chembur Police Station. The case was reportedly filed after receiving a complaint from an NGO official who alleged that the actor hurt women’s feelings with his nude photos.
The images from Ranveer’s photo shoot for Paper Magazine were put online on 21 July. The footage shows Ranveer not wearing any clothes. In one of the photos, he was seen naked on a carpet mimicking the famous photo of Burt Reynold.
The Mumbai Police has filed the FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code such as 292 (sale of obscene books, etc.), 293 (sale of obscene items to juveniles), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to modesty of a woman) and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
Talking about her upcoming movie “Good luck Jerry”, which was released on Hotstar earlier today, Janhvi Kapoor said: “I have high hopes to make a movie. It was a lot of fun. I have a very good memory of it and in the end it’s “It’s like giving icing to the audience and I hope you like icing and give it a shot with an open heart.”
