Hollywood superstar Rebel Wilson’s staggering 40lb weight loss was sparked by 20 years of self-loathing.
The Pitch Perfect actress, 40, feels ‘so sad for herself’ that she let her misfortune come true for two decades and admits that she is now satisfied for the first time since her teenage years – and wants to become a mom.
However, the Aussie star believes the backlash to her dramatic weight loss is sexist, claiming that a male actor would ‘get an Oscar’, rather than a troll, for transforming his body.

Speaking to Ant Middleton in her Sky One Straight Talking series, which sees the couple embark on a voyage of discovery in Mexico, Rebel is moved when she explains why she can’t fully celebrate her new figure.
She says: ‘It’s hard because I was so confident in myself and didn’t want to project a message to people that girls can’t be happy with themselves in bigger sizes, because I was living life. ”

But her new slender figure was not accepted by everyone. Indeed, Rebel admits that the trolling she received was hard to bear.
She explains, “People say ‘you’re not the same anymore, you’re not funny anymore’, and I’m like ‘you are going to fuck yourself’.
After host Ant, 40, points out that American actor Matthew McConaughey was praised for dropping 3.5 stones for his role in the 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club,
Rebel replied, “Yeah, and they’re like ‘give him an Oscar.’ But when women do it, it’s like “how dare she?” Or “she’s trying to find a man”.
Honest: She says, ‘It’s hard because I don’t want to project a message to people that girls can’t be happy with themselves in bigger, bigger sizes, because I was living the life’
Rebel began to gain weight as she approached her twenties, admitting that she had added 25 pounds in college.
She was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), which triggers issues with hormonal imbalances and metabolism, and Rebel says her condition, coupled with unhealthy eating and “ comfort and emotional eating, ” meant she would have a hard time losing weight.
Rebel explains, “I would eat with any emotion. If I was stressed or had exams coming up.
“ But then I would also eat if I was really happy, like I was going out for a great night out and having a great time.
“Other people would just come home and go to bed but I was like ‘what am I going to do? I’m just going to eat these chips and then go to bed. “
‘Pigeon-holed’ in her career: Rebel admits her height has helped her land coveted comedy roles that have shaped her career, including ‘Fat Amy’ in the Pitch Perfect franchise (pictured in 2012 )
She says learning that high calorie meals weren’t “ treats ” was a big part of her weight loss journey.
“ What I realize is that it’s not healing myself by eating 2000 calories for dessert, it’s not healing myself, it’s putting toxins in my body that I don’t need. . Is it momentary comfort? Yes. But the next hour, it’s fat and it’s not healthy for you.

“ I start to take all this weight and I’m like, you know what’s good for bigger girls? Comedy, ”she explains.
“I’m bigger now, I’m starting to laugh, people want to pay me millions of dollars so to be hilarious.”
“ There is a philosophy that people don’t like to laugh at beautiful people, they just don’t like it. They normally want to sleep with beautiful people. But funny people they want to laugh about.
However, her success has meant that she has been ‘pigeon’ as a plus-size actress, claiming that Hollywood executives’ want me to play Fat Amy in multiple movies and call the character something ‘a little different ”.
She now hopes to broaden her acting resume and take on more serious roles, but admits she has a lot to prove to distance herself from comedy roles that have turned her into one of the bankable global stars.

She called 2020 her “ year of health ”, but 2019, when she met her billionaire partner, was her “ year of love. ”
Rebel made the unusual decision to agree to a date with whoever he asked for in an effort to find Mr. Right.
She explains, “ I had an experience where I was dating everyone who asked me to go out. Anyone who asked me out, I had to say “yes”. It was part of the rules of the year – not that I told people it would happen.
“I just had to give a lot of people a chance, and then I learned a lot about myself.
Her desire to find love was sparked by her loneliness in Hollywood.
She added: ‘I realized,’ What’s the point of winning prizes and winning millions of dollars if you don’t have anyone to share it with? ”
‘You don’t think about that at first, you just think,’ I have to climb the ladder and be great at my job ‘and then there are nights you have a movie premiere and you love it and there are thousands of people and you come home alone to your hotel room, which is usually quite luxurious, but it’s no fun. ‘
