Region’s first fully electric fire truck launched in Dubai


Dubai: Dubai Civil Defense unveiled its first fully electric fire truck in the region at an event at the World Trade Center here.

The truck is fully electrically powered and is faster and more efficient than regular fire trucks.

Civil Defense Director General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi said the state-of-the-art truck was 20% faster than the regular truck and took less than an hour to fully charge it. The vehicle can travel approximately 500 kilometers on a single full charge.

“It’s 30% more efficient than regular systems and has a control system to connect it directly to the control room. Six firefighters can be on the truck and it is environmentally friendly, manoeuvrable and safe, ”said Al Matroushi at the opening of the Emirates Custom Show.

“The truck is part of the intelligent system of trucks and machines based on the highest standards of safety and firefighting. It will develop our key role in safeguarding and protecting lives and property, ”Al Matroushi added.

The revolutionary new technology was developed by Rosenbauer Group, one of the world’s three largest manufacturers of firefighting vehicles and firefighting equipment.

The truck has pressure outlets on the front and on both sides with a tank volume of 4,000 liters and with 300 liters of foam compound. It has a fast charging system that can reach 80% charge in 40 minutes. “The vehicle is equipped with four cameras and a device to measure the level of water and foam in the tanks. It can run between six and eight hours, ”Al Matroushi added.
