Report: Adam Schiff Sees House Leadership Position After Pushing Russia Hoax

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is reportedly campaigning among Democrats to become House leader after years of pushing the exposed Russian hoax.

Based on the Washington PostThrough eight lawmakers and 18 staff interviews, Schiff is “gauging members’ interest and planting the seed” to gain enough support to potentially replace Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as leader after the midterms. According to the LA Times, Pelosi has “groomed” Schiff as a possible successor. Schiff began selling the idea to California Democrats earlier this year, “although he didn’t explicitly ask for approval.”

Some in the Democratic caucus are against Schiff not because he pushed the Russian hoax, but because he doesn’t fit the intersectional qualities the Democratic party likes to see, according to the After. Opposition to Schiff reportedly includes Representatives James Clyburn (D-SC) and Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who are closely associated with Pelosi’s reign as a speaker. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) is also reportedly interested in the top job. but it’s not crossbreed quality.

The result of Schiff is his aggressive fundraising skills. “He has hired the political fundraiser Bruce Kieloch, who uses Pelosi for the House Majority PAC,” the After reported. “He has $19 million in cash in his personal campaign account and his leadership PAC has raised $7 million this year for candidates and the DCCC, according to FEC filings.”

One of Schiff’s possible motivations for becoming Democratic caucus leader is to protect his image. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), likely to become Speaker of the House after Republicans reclaim the chamber, has promised to cancel Schiff’s commission orders after the win, Breitbart News’ Matt Boyle first reported in January. McCarthy’s vow is in retaliation for Pelosi’s decision to remove firefighters Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) from their committee duties earlier this term.

“The Democrats have created something new where they pick and choose who can sit on committees,” McCarthy told Breitbart News, adding:

Never in history [of Congress] did you let the majority tell you who can sit on the committee? But this new standard that these Democrats voted for — if Eric Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector, there’s no reason he should get one for Intel or Homeland Security. He will not serve there.

“Look at Adam Schiff – he shouldn’t be serving at Intel if he has openly, now knowingly used a fake file, lied to the American public and has no ill will [and] says he wants to keep doing it,” McCarthy added.

Schiff is most famous for being the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, where he has been a “ubiquitous presence on cable news, driving the story — which critics call a conspiracy theory — of Russia’s “conspiracy” with President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. Breitbart News “That achievement has made Schiff a villain to Republicans, but a hero to Democrats” eager to see Trump impeached.
