Report: Penn Biden Center June event allowed visitors ‘uncontrolled’ access to buildings

A conference at the Penn Biden Center in June reportedly gave attendees “uncontrolled” access to the facility, where classified documents were found in November in an office Joe Biden maintained.

The two-day “boot camp” was held for congressional staffers to foster a working relationship with China on issues such as energy and academia, the Washington Free Beacon reported Tuesday.

The University of Pennsylvania, which is home to the Penn Biden Center, has received millions in anonymous Chinese donations. Since Biden took office, UPenn has reportedly received $52 million in donations from anonymous sources, including from China and Saudi Arabia, raising concerns about national security being compromised.

UPenn’s close ties to China didn’t seem to lead to an increase in facility security for the June event. According to the Beacon, the two-day conference had slack security that allowed congressional staff and other attendees to roam the building.

“At the June conference, there were no posted security officials at the Penn Biden Center — only regular Penn staffers — and attendees were able to walk around the center unsupervised and use unused rooms for phone calls and other private work during the conference,” it said. report.

The lack of security at the event raises the question of whether Biden’s classified information at the center has been compromised.

The lack of security at the Penn Biden Center comes as the Justice Department and lawmakers are investigating Biden’s secret documents scandal, which was first revealed to the public on Jan. 9 via a leak to TBEN. The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the White House had known about the scandal for weeks. Biden’s personal attorneys found the documents on Nov. 2, just a few days before the midterm elections.

It’s unclear why Biden’s personal attorneys initially sought the classified material. The White House and DOJ did not specify the initial cause or reason for the search.

The Penn Biden Center has failed to comply with congressional inquiries into how classified documents were stored at the facility.

Some of the classified documents stored at the center were labeled top secret, the highest classification of classified information. The materials reportedly cover Iran, the United Kingdom and Ukraine, where the Biden family business has made many foreign business deals.
