Reporters – Protecting the living, honoring the dead: ending violence against women in France

Ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, we bring you a special documentary on the scourge of domestic violence. Each year in France, more than 220,000 women are victims of violence inflicted by a partner or ex-partner. These abuses generally take place behind closed doors and take many forms: beatings, rapes, sexual mutilation, kidnappings. Tragically, the last year saw over 150 femicides. Mélina Huet of TBEN followed four women – a policewoman, a lawyer, a gynecologist and an activist – who are trying to change the status quo.
