A student from the Polytechnic Republic, Phoebe Lim, recently received the Caring Commuter Award.
Lim had noticed an elderly commuter with mobility issues and took the initiative to find him a wheelchair.
She not only stopped at that, but went above and beyond.
Lim accompanied the elderly commuter home and bought him food along the way because she was concerned about him.
The student also visited the elderly man two days later to make sure he was well, a LinkedIn message from Republic Polytechnic shared.
In doing so, Lim won the Caring Commuter Award for showing exceptional kindness to a stranger in need.
The school also praised her as a role model in the position.
The Caring Commuter Award was created in 2019 to promote the care of commuters.
The number of nominations for this award doubled the number received in 2021.
This year, a total of 65 nominations were received and eight commuters were rewarded for their kind deeds.
