Results of the municipal elections of Gujarat LIVE: the BJP leads the first trends


Gujarat municipal elections: counting started at 9 a.m. today

New Delhi:

The counting of votes for six municipal corporations in Gujarat began this morning. The vote took place Sunday with 575 seats in six municipal corporations.

The ruling BJP is in power in these civic bodies.

The BJP made big gains in the early stages. The party leads with 106 seats and Congress with 26 seats to date.

The State Election Commission (SEC) said an average turnout of 46.08% was recorded in the vote which was held Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Votes are counted for 192 seats in 48 wards of Ahmedabad municipal society, 120 seats in 30 wards of Surat municipal society, 76 seats in 19 wards of Vadodara municipal society, 72 seats in 18 wards of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, 52 seats in 13 wards of Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation and 64 seats in 16 wards of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.

The counting started at 9 a.m. today.

Here are the live updates of the municipal election results of Gujarat:

Leading so far: BJP ahead of Congress in Gujarat vote tally
BJP leads with 80 seats in Ahmedabad while Congress leads with 15.

In Bhavnagar, the BJP won 20 seats and the Congress seven.

The BJP leads with 26 seats in Jamnagar and Congress in 7.

In Rajkot, the BJP in the lead with 30 seats and the Congress in eight.

In Surat, the BJP leads with 45 seats against 10 in Congress. And in Vadodara, the BJP leads with 30 seats while Congress leads with eight seats.

The BJP leads with 391 seats and Congress with 174 seats in the bottom rows.
