Revealed: The 13 Best Spa Treatments and Best New Hotel Spas in the World

As travel slowly opens up around the world and more people get vaccinated, the spa industry seeks to create unique luxury experiences to attract customers. New resorts are slowly launching after pandemic delays, and while spas are usually the last thing to open, there will soon be a lot more creative options for spa enthusiasts like me. According to Rona Berg, editorial director of Organic Spa Media, the industry is radically changing its mindset by offering luxury experiences while remaining safe.

“There are a few highly anticipated spa openings in 2021 after many hit the pause button over the past year. Spas are multiplying programs with an inherent social distancing such as reflexology, treatments outside in tents. More and more people are traveling with extended family and friends, and spas are moving to accommodate these groups, with wellness programs for the whole family, even children.

“Some spas are launching mental wellness programs, aimed at helping relieve the mental stress that has built up over the past year,” she continues. “Nature immersions are more and more popular, and now even more. Getting away from it all, immersing yourself in nature, historical and cultural sites, and visiting exciting cities with rich itineraries can certainly be exhilarating. Testing your physical limits – hiking, biking, diving, surfing, and other sporting activities – makes you feel alive. Others focus on transformative experiences that lead to inward journeys or programs that help clients reset. “

And now the World Spa Awards, created to recognize excellence in the spa and wellness industry, has unveiled its nominees for 2021. The nominees span the entire spa industry from hotel spas to wellness retreats , from spa destinations and detox programs to aromatherapy brands and wellness apps. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in October in Dubai.

Last year’s winners included two Italian properties; Como lake Mandarin Oriental Spa, Dolomite Lefay Resort & Spa, and the Royal Heritage Ritual treatment at Intercontinental Bali.
