A former actor on the CW series “Riverdale” has been sentenced to life in prison after admitting to killing his mother and planning to kill Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau.

Ryan Grantham, 24, was convicted Tuesday by the British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver. The actor is also ineligible for parole for the next 14 years.

Grantham had previously pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of his 64-year-old mother Barbara Waite.

Waite was reportedly playing piano at the family’s home in Squamish, British Columbia on March 31, 2020, when her son shot her in the back of the head.

During a June hearing, prosecutors said the young actor had shot a GoPro video in the wake of the murder and included his mother’s corpse.

“I shot her in the back of the head,” Grantham is said to have admitted on video. “She would have known it was me in the moments after.”

Grantham reportedly wanted to protect his mother from witnessing the acts of violence he planned to commit next, prosecutors said. Her body was soon found by Grantham’s sister, Lisa.

The day after the murder, the actor reportedly packed his truck with Molotov cocktails, rifles and ammunition and drove east with the intent to kill Trudeau in Ottawa.

Grantham then turned around after contemplating a mass shooting at Simon Fraser University, where he was enrolled. He eventually turned himself in to the Vancouver Police Department that evening.

The young actor had reportedly experienced feelings of depression and self-loathing, which prosecutors say were exacerbated by isolation, smoking an excessive amount of cannabis and watching gory videos on the internet.

In a news bulletin written the day of the murder, Grantham reportedly apologized to his family and said “no one” would understand him.

“I’m so sorry mom, I’m so sorry Lisa…I hate myself,” he wrote, according to prosecutors. “There’s a lot of media of mine… film and TV… hundreds of hours of mine that can be viewed and dissected… No one will understand.”
