Serena Deeb made an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast today to talk about a wide range of topics, including her decision to join AEW.
It came after his departure from WWE as the company ditched wrestlers, staff and employees due to budget cuts linked to the COVID-19 pandemic last April.
Deeb joined the company in 2017 to become a Coach at the Performance Center. She also worked at this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament. Deeb made her promotional debut on the September 2 episode of Dynamite where she lost to then-NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa.
Deeb explained in this interview that she saw the departure as a positive thing.
“It was probably the best thing that ever happened to me, losing my job, because [AEW] probably wouldn’t happen right now. I don’t even look back with any kind of negative feelings or anything; it is purely positive for me.
Deeb also spoke about the power of yoga and positive thinking, learning from Rip Rogers and returning to the in-ring performance after believing that part of his career was over. Plus, she shares her Mt. Rushmore wrestling and her love of coaching.
