Although Drew McIntyre is the first WWE star to confirm that he recently tested positive for COVID-19, he is not the only wrestler to have it.
It was previously reported that the latest COVID-19 outbreak affected all brands of WWE – Raw, NXT and SmackDown. Ringside News reported Monday evening that there was a positive case of COVID-19 on the SmackDown side.
Dave Meltzer spoke about the positive cases of COVID-19 during the last edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. From what he knows, there are at least four wrestlers, including the WWE Champion, who have tested positive.
“So there are at least four, including Drew McIntyre, WWE wrestlers that I’m aware of who have, or have just gotten over COVID-19 and there may be more. These are the only names I know and there was one on SmackDown that was scheduled on the show and took off. There’s one that’s a big star who just returned from COVID, and there’s another in NXT. There are probably others that will be left out for contact tracing, I’ll guess. “
Meltzer pointed out that there were several wrestlers working double duty on Monday’s Raw.
“I don’t know of anyone else on Raw who tested positive, but obviously if you watch the show you can infer who wasn’t there and there are a lot of people who aren’t.
Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez came and went about stars who weren’t there, including Kofi Kingston who suffers from a jaw injury, or past situations where Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler didn’t have it, but instead kept the show for a few weeks. last year as a precaution, as they approached someone who had the virus.
Meltzer said: “It could be a lot of people, I only know three people who currently have it, but that’s a problem.” The fourth star is McIntyre.
