Shehu Sani, a former member of the National Assembly, responded to the kidnapping and murder of Phillip Shekwo, president of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Nasarawa state.
Shekwo, whose kidnapping was reported on Saturday, was found dead on Sunday.
The body of the president of the ruling party was found a few meters from his private residence in Anguwar Bukan-Sidi in the metropolis of Lafia.
Heavily armed gunmen invaded his residence around 11 p.m. Saturday and opened fire at the door, forcing a policeman guarding the house to take cover.
Governor Abdullahi Sule; the President of the National Assembly, Senator Tanko Al-Makura; State police commissioner Abdullahi-Balarabe Ibrahim and party supporters also went to the home of the slain party president on Sunday.
Reacting to the horrific incident, Sani tweeted, “My condolences to the government and people of Nasarawa State for the gruesome murder of CPA President Mr. Philip Shekwo by kidnappers. May his sweet soul rest in peace, Amen.
