A shooting at a shopping mall near Milwaukee on Friday afternoon left several injured, but none were fatally injured, an official said.
Official Dennis McBride, the mayor of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, said the shooting took place at the Mayfair Mall, but the number of injured was unclear.
He also said that it was not clear that those injured were gunshot victims. He said several people were taken to a nearby hospital.
The shooter remained at large, he said. The motive for the shooting was not clear.
Mr McBride said about 75 law enforcement officers from various departments descended on the mall, which is the city’s largest taxpayer and the busiest in Milwaukee County.
Lindsay Kahn, spokesperson for Brookfield Properties, owner of the mall, said in a statement: “We are disheartened and angry that our clients and tenants have been the victims of this violent incident today. We are grateful to our partners in the Wauwatosa Police Department and are cooperating with them as their investigation develops. “
Officials from the mall and the police department could not be immediately reached.
