“Worrying situation”: The Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is on the front line – and now the Ukrainian counter-offensive is underway
The fighting around the largest nuclear power plant in Europe occupied by Russia is intensifying. Also, the power plant falls within the catchment area of the ongoing counter-offensive of the Ukrainian army. Experts are concerned.
The largest nuclear power plant in Europe has been under Russian control since March 4th. The nuclear power plant is the largest single electricity operator in Ukraine. Already at the beginning of the occupation of the site near the town of Enerhodar in the Ukrainian Zaporizhia Oblast, a fire broke out in an administration building of the nuclear power plant. It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to the reactors.
