Indian batsman Shubman Gill has returned home after being excluded from the five-game test series against England. Gill posted an Instagram story of her return to India and her family welcoming her with a cake. He suffered a shin injury and was ruled out for eight weeks, which was a big blow to the Indian team ahead of the Test Series against England. Sources told ANI the injury occurred after the World Trials Championship final.
“He has a shin injury which he sustained after the WTC final against New Zealand and will need about eight weeks to recover,” said a source.
This now means that the management of the Indian team will have to consider moving forward with Mayank Agarwal or KL Rahul as second opener with Rohit Sharma.
Gill did not have a great outing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand as he recorded scores of 28 and 8 races. He got off to a good start in the first heats but failed to convert it to a big score and gave a disappointing performance in the second heats.
New Zealand won the match by eight wickets to bring the test mass home.
After a stunning debut in the Australian Series, Gill faced a rough patch with the bat and slipped away big scores even in the four-game Test Series against England earlier this year.
