Gang member Abdullah Boonzaader, who suffered a similar fate to his father Hard Livings, was gunned down in Manenberg, Cape Town on Saturday night.

Boonzaader, the 32-year-old son of former Hard Livings gang boss Rashied Staggie, was murdered in Manenberg three years after his father was shot to death in Salt River.

Manenberg’s police spokesman, Captain Ian Bennett, said he and a group of men were gambling on the road when multiple shots were fired at him.

“[He] lay lifeless, face down with multiple gunshot wounds to his face. He collapsed and succumbed to his fatal injuries on the spot. The suspects have fled and are yet to be arrested,” Bennett added.

Benett said police patrolled the area and additional members were deployed to saturate hotspot areas.

“We urge members of the area not to stir the tension between the gangs and if they have anything to report, go straight to the police station or call 10111,” Bennett added.

“We are calling on community members to please stay safe and not spread fake news about this death. The CPF is calling on anyone with information to come forward and report it to the police.”

“It was scary. It sounded like he was choking on the floor as the blood gushed from his body. There was so much blood that one lady even tried to put her hand on the wound to stop the blood. But [he] died. Anyway, it was very sad,” said one resident.

Another resident added: “Now we can expect anything. They were chasing… [him] for a long time and now that they’ve finally got him, I can’t help but think what’s going to happen next [the] apartment.”
