Comedian Daniel Fernandes apologized on Monday after netizens targeted him for ‘joking’ about the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Conversely, a stand-up comedy by Daniel, shared on January 11, angered fans of the late “ Dil Bechara ” actor after finding out how the comedian addressed Sushant’s death, the The apparent media frenzy that followed it, and the country’s obsession with Rhea Chakraborty after her arrest in the case.
It did not go very well with Sushant Singh Rajput fans who have relentlessly demanded that the case be closed and made a sincere appeal on social media platforms for justice.
Meanwhile, Daniel’s act paved the way for negative comments, threats on social media, and a call to boycott the video and arrest the artist, which led the comedian to apologize.
One SSR fan wrote: “Make jokes with dead people. Shame on you and the one who gave birth to you in this world 🙂 I hope she reads it. “
Another wrote: “Using someone’s death for ‘standing comedy’ just to push your hate agenda against BJP is the next level of bigotry. You are all trying to prove that mental Sushant will pay a very high price. Karma will get you … “
“Trying to become famous by making fun of a deceased person; shame on you,” wrote another user.
Posting all the hate in his way, Daniel took to his Instagram account to apologize.
Here is the full text of Daniel’s apology:
“My recent stand-up video seems to have offended many fans of the late Sushant Singh Rajput, many of whom pointed out that an apology was in order and I agree!
As a comedian, my only intention is always to entertain you and make you laugh, but sometimes in this effort I might conjure up an unfavorable response.
That being said, I would like to address my mistake. Towards the end of this piece, I said that Rhea had been acquitted of her charges. This is factually incorrect. She was released on bail. For some strange reason, I used the word “acquitted” by mistake on the Pune show. It’s certainly not how I wrote it or played it elsewhere. I take that back and I apologize to all those whose feelings may have been hurt.
Also, due to an edit oversight, one of my favorite jokes from this set was left out of the final cut. To fix this, I’ll upload a new version of this video with this joke next week.
I stand by everything I have said. “
Daniel followed his apology with the meaning of the word “satire”.
Conversely, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14. The investigation into the case is still ongoing.
