Namibian Ruben Trumpelmann was on fire as he destroyed Scotland’s First Order in the first on himself of their ongoing T20 Super 12 World Cup match in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus first won the draw and chose to line up. In their opener, Trumpelmann took three wickets in the first on himself. The point guard fired George Munsey, Calum MacLeod and Richie Berrington. The 23-year-old sent MacLeod and Berrington back to the flag in back-to-back deliveries and narrowly missed a hat-trick.

For his first ball, Trumpelmann threw a good length of pitch on the fourth row. Opener Munsey couldn’t find much room to make a shot and tried to cut without any footwork. But he lowered the delivery and dragged it over the stumps.

MacLeod, who arrived at no. 3, was made redundant with a similar delivery. He got a slight advantage thanks to wicket keeper Zane Green for a catch on the third ball.

Trumpelmann sent a full inswinger on the next ball himself and he hit Richie Berrington’s knee in front of the leg stump. Berrington received LBW for a golden duck.

Trumpelmann missed his hat trick on the next ball, sending a full delivery that grazed Craig Wallace’s pads and made it to a dipping green.

Scotland were limited to 109 for eight in 20 overs, setting a goal of 110 points. In addition to Trumpelmann, Jan Frylinck took two wickets, David Wiese and JJ Smit each received a dismissal.
