Manchester United have made the decision to sign Lille star Boubakary Soumare this month, while Liverpool are back for a Premier League center-back, rumored to be a transfer on Thursday.
UNITED DECISION MAKE SOUMARE
Manchester United have decided not to sign the Lille star Boubakary Soumare in the January transfer window.
The talented midfielder, valued at around £ 30million, has been closely linked with a move to the Red Devils, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a well-stocked engine room.
However, the report of Daily Express claim United could still choose to sue the 21-year-old this summer.
Manchester United are currently flying, as they occupy the lead in the Premier League, and that will not encourage Ed Woodward to spend any money.
Indeed, the club seeks to unload a few marginal stars – with Timothy Fosu-Mensah has already left for Germany.
Athletic say United decided not to move to Soumare this month, despite screenings impressed by the Lille star.
The 21-year-old has made 16 Ligue 1 appearances this season, helping his side to place third in the table behind Lyon and PSG.
But as United keep an eye on the Frenchman, they seem happy with what they have right now.
Fred, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay all perform well in a defensive role, while Bruno Fernandes continues to shine and Paul Pogba is back at a place close to his best.
This apparently negated the need for reinforcements at this point in the season. Soumare, however, would be an important addition to the United midfielder if they explore a deal again this summer.
